So far we have been rather discreet about our work in progress, but today we would like to offer you a little preview.

Builds pages

Many of you asked us for characteristics pages where you would be able to save your builds. We are currently working on the development of this feature.

The idea is to replace the fast use equipment system, already present in-game, with one that takes into account not only all the stuff, but also the characteristics points and the added variations from the spells.

Encyclopedia at your fingers

In order to make it easier for you to access information that until now was only visible on our website, we feel that it is time for the encyclopedia to be accessible in-game too.

In addition to the bestiary, you will find new tabs: equipment, consumables, and resources.

New filters will allow you to refine your search, making it more dynamic.

Average prices in the Marketplaces will be displayed.

The idea is that you will be able to estimate the cost of a craft or compare two pieces of equipment directly from this interface without having to leave the game client.

All that we revealing to you in this Micro-Blog is WIP (Work In Progress) and is likely to be modified, but please do not hesitate to give us your feedback.

See you soon!

Get a preview of what we're working on behind the scenes of the game DOFUS.

You gave us a lot of feedback on the first micro-blog about build pages and the encyclopedia. We'll have the opportunity to go deeper into these topics and thereby answer your questions in a future post, once their functionality has been improved.

One small point: We work on many aspects of the game every week, but we will concentrate on one or two subjects at a time in each micro-blog.

Over the last few weeks, the level design team has been reworking the Sacrier Temple. In light of your feedback about update 2.45 and the new version of the temple, we decided to review it both inside and out so it will better match the 2.44 version and worship of the goddess Sacrier.

See you soon in the next micro-blog!

As announced in Gamakna #5, the city of Astrub will be undergoing a total restoration. That includes design, accessibility, quests and more. Get the initial details below!

We asked Mary Pumpkins and Halden, both of whom are heavily involved in the revamp of the City of Mercenaries, to give us their impressions.

A NEW ASTRUB

By Mary Pumpkins – Lead LD

The level design for the Astrub revamp is mainly focused on reducing the size of the city and clearing up navigation through the various areas.

Astrub Zaap:

The city center will now group all the most frequented elements (Market, bank, Zaap, etc.) over a very small number of maps; this sector will serve as a hub, distributing players to the outer areas.

The Suburbs, constituting the rest of the city, will contain workshops and other points of interest.

Field routes:

dc28d5cc0c3253cbacf7027d9ae74e95.jpg

Also in the interest of simplifying things, we decided to trace large routes through the areas, leading to the four cardinal points (Tainela, Pandala, Amakna and Almanax).

The World of Twelve does lack land routes indicating the way to particular areas. It's possible this work started on Astrub will be extended to the rest of the continent.

QUESTING IN THE NEW ASTRUB

By Halden – Game designer

Young souls from Incarnam were being offered plenty of quests on arriving in Astrub… perhaps a few too many. We've lowered the number of quests to keep beginners from getting discouraged by the scale of the task.

After exhausting several generations of heroes, Guti Outsider and Kry Babby are bowing out… Not to worry, fans of picturesque adventuring: you'll get to discover many all-new quests, along with existing quests that will be revisited to better suit the new version of the City of Mercenaries.

Astrub Inn:

If you haven't tired of tracking the Bearman to his lair, or if you live to clean up Kerub's place, rest assured: you'll still get to indulge in your passions!

And if you successfully complete all the achievements related to Astrub, you'll win a special prize… the Silver Dofus!

This year, the city founded by Brutas is beginning a new chapter… Will you be part of the story?

As you may already have read in the devblog about our overhaul of Astrub, we wanted to significantly reduce the city's size in 2.46 to make it easier for new players to get around town.

But what's going to happen to the houses?

The city of Astrub as you currently know it contains no fewer than 74 homes. As we reduce the number of maps that make up the city, we've also had to reduce the number of houses.

But rest assured, Astrub homeowners – no one will be getting thrown out on the street!

Just as we've already been doing with server fusions, we will distribute the houses across multiple instances so that every owner can have an equivalent property to what they had before the update: house size, number of rooms, number of chests, etc.

All houses will now be located within a radius of 6 maps around the zaap.

More comfortable interiors

The house interiors will also be redesigned to ensure visual consistency with the city's new appearance. We have tried to preserve the essence of the existing houses – by maintaining certain decorative elements like stoves and clocks, for example – while also modernizing the interiors and introducing more sophisticated themes than in older Astrub houses.

That's a little bit of impossible architecture. Light is somehow skipping through the dark staircases behind the window.

The angle of the ray of light in the original image is too tall for it to be passing under the stair case, and the shadow of the stair case would have been visible. What you drew also looks quite unstable.

ankama posted that. anyway that's just a funny sketch but they still cared to draw lighting and shadow that make sense if you place the sun onto a 3d plane.

as for architecture, all of the buildings in astrub are already top-heavy anyway and they've survived since 2009! but seriously there's a pretty srsbsns wood frame and other supports we dont see

I agree with @Happida, I refuse to support a company that cannot support its own houses. Disgusting.

Get a preview of what we're working on behind the scenes of the DOFUS game.

The war on bots started several years ago now. Moderators are always tracking them, of course, but [Sifripio] and his team have been on the project since January. Their mission? Stop the spread of bot networks.

We generally don't discuss the limitations we put in place to fight bots, first and foremost because it's easier to thwart their creators when they don't know that new restrictions have been implemented.

Agride has historically been our test server, but we're gradually extending new measures across all servers.

As a reminder, the use of bots or third-party software (allowing several accounts to log in simultaneously, for example) are forbidden by our terms of use. The penalty is severe: all of your Ankama accounts may be permanently banned.

And punishment is being doled out: thousands of accounts have been banned since new measures were implemented on the servers. Enough to madden the bots now running in circles on the village map.

The fight against bots is especially difficult because in order to take action against an account, we have to make sure it's definitely a bot and not a player.

But the mission undertaken by [Sifripio] and company isn't limited to resource farming bots or aggressive bots (which are especially popular on the heroic server); these measures also target kama buyers and sellers.

This practice is indeed illegal, as much for a kama seller as for a buyer. Only offers from Ankama are legal; no third-party transaction is permitted. We invite anyone wishing to buy kamas to do so on Ankama's own platform (entirely legal and secure): the Kama Exchange.
