  1. Hear hear. She made Dofus a lot of fun. But was also young and dramatic and didn't always make the best social choices. ...like basically all of us. People were ruthless to her though. Lots of kids not really understanding that they were attacking and ruining a real human being with the hatred they spewed out. I remember being really angry and making a big post about it way-back-when but I can't remember if that's when Myr faded away or if it happened later. Hahaha, that list of names you posed takes me back though. TBH I wasn't 100% sure if Amakna Square was the right name or not, so I googled before I posted... and landed on superlativeexemplar.com, which still has some of my original design on it xD. This place is an endless pit of nostalgia. FOR REAL!? Who?! Thanks, though -- it was a lot of fun seeing how people grew up, and being part of it. Kind of cool how many lives changed because of a silly video game forum.
  2. This was super kind Dan, thanks :). Man, what a run it's been. It's great to see some of the original crew still around, though :). What drama there was way back when. I didn't bother diving into IV history with my farewell post, but I wonder how many people remember TimeShaper's old forum, Amakna Square. And the fact that he dumped it one day and Quivitar picked it up and brought me on to help manage it. Then we had to cut ties with the old forum completely because TS abused his access and turned into a hellscape, and that's when IV was born. Wonder how Myriad is doing these days :) This is such a bittersweet thing because so many of us literally grew up together. I wouldn't have admitted it at the time, being a college "adult" when I started all this, but man, we were all completely different people then. It just feels great to know IV will get the attention it both needs and deserves. Rob, I would have been straight-up heartbroken to see this place get shut down just because my life wasn't conducive to it anymore. No matter where it goes from here, we made a pretty awesome call putting it in your hands. Thanks for stepping up :) (Also, ahahahahaha I just tried to tag @kikn xD)
  3. Howdy Imps! For those who don't know me, hi! I'm Kyek. I created Imps Village in 2006 (12 years ago! Holy crap), and have been funding and maintaining it ever since. Running this place has been pretty amazing for me. I was an active contributor here for years, even after my Dofus-playing days fizzled out. In the past handful of years, though, my role has been solely paying the bills and keeping the server hardware running. ...with a brief stint to team up with Garne to create the badass forum theme ;-). Regardless, Imps and the friendships and memories I've made here will always be near and dear to my heart. There are still threads here that can still make me laugh so hard I cry, and there are real-life marriages that have happened solely because this place existed and encouraged people to connect. That's awesome. But the nuts and bolts of it is, Imps deserves more attention than I can give it. Over time, we've seen the 'active user' list at the bottom of the site move from 200+ at any given time of day to, at times, single digits. I've also come to realize that, if Imps should ever fall offline, I'm not at a place in my life where I could be confident I'd be able to drop enough obligations to bring it back up. Which, as anyone who's ever run a server can tell you, that's not an "if", that's a "when". It forced a decision I was putting off making: Should I shut Imps down so that it can go out peacefully, giving the community time to save anything important? Or, should I find someone that this community can trust to not only keep Imps running financially and technically, but also give it the time it deserves to build the community back up? I am incredibly pleased to report that the moderator Rob (Kikn) has taken up the mantle. Rob is super capable and excited to take this on, and I'm thrilled he's the one doing it. Not only is this a guy who has loved this place for years, he's also a long-time high-level staff member who's already been entrusted with the care of your account information. On the technical side, while it is always advisable to have secure passwords that you change occasionally, your passwords are salted and hashed (call it "encrypted" if that's greek to you) and no ownership change can ever expose that information. In fact, one of Rob's goals once the site transitions to him is to get Imps running on SSL (https) so your logins are more secure. You are in great hands. Rob will post with his own thoughts and deliver more information about the timing, but we're looking to have a brief downtime tomorrow (Thursday March 15) to shift everything over to his name. For my own part, I'll keep my account here and may pop in from time to time just to see how Imps is doing :). Regardless though, thanks for making this the incredible ride that it was. If you'd like to get in touch outside Imps, you can find me on Twitter and LinkedIn. Here's to a bright future! Kyek
  4. Heyo! This hardly warrants an announcement post since it's probably already hella obvious, but we now have a non-default theme! Credits to @Garne for collecting the images and designing the crux of the header (including that seriously slick bobbing airship concept), blame me for photoshopping it all into a nighttime setting and turning it into code :). This actually isn't the final version we have in mind -- the Imps at Night theme was just my prototype for getting all the code put together. There's a very similar daytime theme in the works with a few additional color, icon, and navigation changes that makes this place even more our own. But that one's still in the in the shop getting tuned up, so we thought it would be cool to put some polish on the prototype to give you a taste of what's coming. If you still prefer this night theme when we switch away from it, don't worry -- it'll still be available in the theme switcher at the bottom of the page if you'd like to go back :). The default theme is still there too, just in case sterile and bland is right up your alley! We have a lot of big fans of the old pre-upgrade design (and I'm one of them!), and I know some folks were hoping we could go back to that -- the sad truth is that Invision 4 (our current forum) has a ton of new features and totally different frontend requirements from the previous version we used to run on, so that old theme simply can't be reused -- both from the standpoint of the code itself, as well as the design (which doesn't support the new features). But I'm excited about being able to press forward with something fresh and new :). Hope you like it, and stay tuned for more theme updates!
  5. Thanks for the donation!! <3

  6. That's the problem bobeur outlined above -- if you always visit the site via the /forums URL, you'll be fine -- it's the impsvillage.com/ base URL that's giving you trouble. Still working on this issue, but will have a patch soon!
  7. Oh my god Aza, I love you. This is so much better. Just need to adjust the line-spacing in the new theme so that the gaps between normal lines aren't so huge :)
  8. Ahhh nice! That's the detail I needed! I'll look into how it's handling the session cookie for that URL. Or maybe I'll just move the forums to the root domain and be done with it. For the paragraph breaks in the editor, just hold shift when pressing Enter to make it go down one line only.
  9. 403 issue is now fixed! A few things I'd love you folks to confirm with a keen eye in order for me to attack/replicate the remaining items: On your first login attempt, are you logging in with the username that you've always used on the old imps, or your display name/email? Assuming you're using your display name, are you using a password manager? Some password managers like to input old information into hidden fields you can't see -- let me know which you're using. When you log in the second time, is "Remember Me" checked? Thanks guys!
  10. Bam, fixed! Let me know if you still have this issue.
  11. Hey Otto! The 403 issue is being worked on -- and perhaps the reason the login doesn't work for you the first time is because your browser remembers your old login username, instead of the display name (or email address) that the forum now requires? Being logged out each time you close the browser definitely shouldn't happen though-- that's something I've not experienced. Are you checking the "remember me" box on log-in? And, if so, could you share what browser/version you're using? Thanks!
  12. Note, there are a couple known issues to keep in mind: - With this new version of the forum software, IPB has chosen to eliminate the idea of keeping log-in usernames separate from display names. Logging in with your username no longer works as a result; you must log in with either your display name (the name you see in your forum posts) or your email address. - Currently, logging in can sometimes produce a "403 Forbidden" error. Refreshing or simply loading any other forum URL after that gets you in just fine. This is being addressed ASAP. Fixed!
  13. Thanks for the bug report! We're knocking them out as fast as we can :)
  14. Hi y'all, For those who don't know me, I'm the guy who started Imps a whole lot of years ago. I haven't played Dofus for 10 years and haven't considered myself a part of the community for quite awhile, but Imps is and has been my responsibility as the owner of the community to fund and maintain. Approximately five and a half hours before this post, I learned that our site had been compromised by an attacker who took advantage of a security flaw in Invision Power Board to upload and execute a PHP toolkit known as c99shell. This tool gives the user nearly full access to the server machine and the databases it uses. While it does not produce logs of its actions, it's always safest to assume that the attacker got everything we have stored, including information not publicly available on the forum. This includes: Members' email addresses Members' IP addresses The uniquely salted and hashed password string for every user That last item is the big one. Invision Power Board and Imps Village do not store passwords in plain text, however anyone who has the above hash can run password cracking suites on them to try to discover what the password for an individual user might be. Users who use common passwords based on dictionary words with numbers are the most vulnerable. We have evidence that this was done to gain access to two admin accounts, but have discovered nothing further. Regardless, for any Imps members who use the same password here as on other sites (or Dofus), I strongly recommend changing your password on those other sites. Please consider using a password manager such as Lastpass or 1Password to enable you to use highly random passwords for each site you have an account with. I also recommend all Imps users change their password for this site as soon as possible. Immediately after discovering the breach, I built a new server for Imps independent from the one that had been compromised, and installed a fresh and brand new version of our forum software on it, with that particular exploit patched. I'm also in the process of utilizing an external file store for user-uploaded images, that will prevent any similar exploits from affecting us in the future. The transition to the new, uncompromised server is still in progress (he says, at 3:30am local time), and that's why things look all crazy here! The newest version of IPB treats images differently, and our old theme is no longer compatible. Please bear with me and the staff as we spruce the place up! I thought it would be better to open our doors in the current condition than leave the site offline until it was fully stylized. I apologize deeply for both the lapse of security and our under-construction appearance. While no organization can honestly promise security issues will never occur in the future, we are making the best efforts possible to reach that goal. Optimistically, Kyek
  15. We ran into a bit of DB corruption that I'm continuing to monitor. Hoping we've seen the last of it!
  16. All is good here, iPhone 5, iOS6 and 7, Safari and Chrome. Unfortunately I don't know anyone with a 4, but if you're on iOS6 it really shouldn't matter... very strange indeed.
  17. Ok. Turns out the ability to see who liked a post has to be enabled on the user group level. Everyone should now be able to see who liked what :) Edit: Also, we have a new favicon now xD
  18. That one REALLY bugs me. The new version of IPB lets you change the rep buttons out for a "Like" button that's supposed to show users' names, but it does not. I need to dig a bit there.
  19. Indeed :) Fosjam and Fjorl picked out and purchased the theme, I got it working on Firefox and IE7-9 (Who the hell only supports webkit browsers? wtf) , Garne whipped up the new logo that looks great with all 3 theme colors. Team effort :)
  20. I've just disabled all the unsupported themes, which set anyone using them back to the default. Should be all set now!
  21. Imps has moved from France to the USA, upgraded to a shiny new version of our forum software, and got a whole new look! There's plenty of new stuff to find, so I won't bother attempting to list the new bells and whistles here-- but suffice it to say that there's some great updates. The most major known issue, though, is that the upgrade process had to change how avatars were stored -- and apparently, not everyone's avatar made it through. If yours appears to be missing, just add it to your profile again and everything should look great. Sorry for the inconvenience! Welcome home, everyone :)
  22. Howdy Imps! As early as tonight (EDT), the forum will be closed for maintenance that's expected to last about two hours. We'll be shipping off from France to the US, and we'll be grabbing the latest version of our forum software along the way! Expect a new mobile interface, less complicated user profiles, and other bells and whistles. See you on the flip side!
  23. I haven't actually touched Adwords since I set it up for the original IV, so when I went back in to get the latest ad code, I discovered that they changed how the entire thing works. I ended up having to generate new spots for this site, and went with either text or an image for the after-the-first-post ad (it CAN be text only, it's just luck of the draw) and google search ad links for the sidebar. Ads weren't going so hot on the old IV, with a payout only happening about twice a year if we were lucky (nice to have, but still not really denting our costs), so I decided to see if changing the ad type would have any impact at all :). There shouldn't be any flash ads or anything like that popping up, though. I just noticed that ;-). I believe Garne is the master artist who created the killer logo for this theme... Garne, if you're reading this, did you do the favicon too? And if so, could I get that in a PNG-24 format that I can smoosh into an ICO? :)
