Well, this looks great!

I'm still waiting for Ankama to start actually using their player base to help program things,
which I thought this feature would be. I was wrong obviously...
Why not let players also mess with code in the beta for themselves? If it's great, then ankama can just adopt it in the real game...

As if anyone would want to bother with ActionScript :P

What ever happened to Dofus Modules? Was it discontinued because they realized that they hadn't properly thought it through and there were tons of security issues, no way to enforce quality, etc? Dofus modules obviously wouldn't be able to tackle the black screen stuff, but it would allow direct involvement by the community to improve upon the interfaces.

This is something Blizzard can do, but with Ankama's history I doubt they can get a module system working that's not full of security holes. It would take them just too much time.

Just resize your window to 4:3 and it'll be "turned off".

You don't like it because we have to screenshot all again for our maps?

The current version is pretty much a zoomed out version of each map, so it matches the art and ties everything together. Where as this new style just seems too far apart from that I guess. Never been a massive fan of the more simplistic 'rounded' art they've been leaning toward though nor do I like change. Perhaps I'm just being too pessimistic.

Just out of curiosity, what type of dev setup would you use for a game like Dofus?

Whilst I somewhat agree I think Winged-One only made that comment because he knows that Ankama already have Java programmers on their pay roll (Wakfu is written in Java) that said it wouldn't be that hard to learn for most programmers because OOP instructions can be applied in Unity and it's fairly easy to pick up to begin with.

In my option Unity is best for low performance driven games like Dofus and C/C++ if the game has more graphically intensive stuff.

It's 'easier' to get away with coding in Java for games like Dofus and Wakfu because it isn't memory hungry. (the main reason why people dislike Java for games is because of the non-deterministic memory management)

If Dofus was written in Java LWJG it would be fine for most people however I don't think they'd do that though because of multi accounting and there's a good chance a lot people will quit subbing as many characters because they can't run as much as they used to. Why 'waste' countless hours for less money?
