Let me tell you a story
I've been so crazy with work lately that it wasn't until about a month ago that I made to back to Imps with a slightly more regular visitation schedule. The mods knew I was around, but I wanted to get settled into things before I started digging into all the forum stuff again. But then Aza made a post about April Fools with a bunch of suggestions, and one of them was "pretend to be bought by Ankama."

Comedy. Effing. Gold.

So we ran with it, launched the master plan today, and oh god it was so much fun xD. We're locking all of the associated threads for it so everyone's posts are immortalized. No, we will not delete your posts to save you the embarrassment

But this is what's really going on:
My workload has eased up considerably, and I decided to wait until now to jump back into the forum because, seriously, that just made the joke 30 times more believable

But I'm here, I'm definitely not selling, and Ankama wasn't even involved. And you all should be seeing more of me! Nothing says "Hey I'm back!" like giving a couple thousand people heart attacks

Credits to Garne for the images used (everything but the RIDICULOUSLY ANNOYING background tile xD), Tweak, Biku, Robbeh, and me for the crux of the dialog from the Ankama® Games account, and all the mods for refining the idea and having some seriously epic online acting skills to pull it off

. Special thanks to RollTheDice for allowing us to ban him (he was in on it the whole time, even though his posts are full of rage

) and Youb, also known as Taré, for playing the role of a French forum mod.

Also, credits to everyone who figured out the joke and joined in to play along instead of feeling the unexplainable need to ruin the joke for everyone else. That's what made this REALLY rewarding. Way to be awesome

. The precious few who never caught on will forever live in infamy ;-)

Imps Village changing ownership

Howdy Imps,

As many of you are aware, I've been taking an extended leave from my Admin duties here at Imps. The reasons for this include changing interests, an increased focus on real-life work, and many time constraints. I apologize for my absence from the community.

Recently I was approached by Ankama Games about the possibility of them purchasing Imps Village. This was a very obvious solution to all the problems I was having. Ankama Games' purchase of the site would allow me to leave it in good hands, while getting out from under the monthly bills. Naturally, I agreed, and I truly hope their vision for Imps Village allows this place to improve and flourish.

I'll be staying on in an admin capacity just long enough to become acquainted with their new staff and get them used to the systems here. They have some very exciting upgrades in mind, so it shouldn't be long until you start seeing new graphics and forum-hosted events! I'm very pleased with their plans and hope you like them as much as I do.

Following this post will be a statement from Ankama Games. As for my part, I'd like to thank everyone for a truly fantastic two and a half years. I couldn't have asked for a better time here

It's Our Birthday!

That's right, break out the cake! Imps is two years old today

If that confuses the hell out of you, I don't blame you! We announced we were turning two years old last year, too, but I think we have it figured out now ;-) Last year we counted in time from our predecessor community, Amakna Square -- but it was actually just one year since we moved away and changed our name, back then.

And so, Imps is officially two years old today

It's been a hell of a trip with you guys, and we're still growing and running strong. Thanks to everyone here for that! Here's looking forward to another one ;-)

Imps is giving away 50 WAKFU BETA CODES!

The staff has been pouring over the best way to give them out. I thought Ebay was by far our best option, but the other mods disagreed and said that we should just give them out to just our friends. So we met halfway, and decided to do a CRAPTON of mini-contests on Imps, and each of the winners will get a beta key! (yes, yes, ebay and the friends thing was a joke. Try to keep up.)

Requirements to Win
Only Imps Village members in Good Standing are eligible to win. We define "in good standing" as anyone who's never been banned from Imps before, who only has one Imps account, and whose membership is not currently in question among the mods.

You also must have a minimum postcount of 10 to win. We want to reward our members who actually take the initiative to post here and be part of the Imps community! If you're new or haven't posted enough yet, it's super super easy. You could try making a thread in The Imps Village Airport to introduce yourself, you could post a friendly welcome in others' threads in the Airport, you could join in a few games in our Fun and Games forum, or comment on some of the diverse threads in General Discussion. It doesn't take long to get 10 posts here!

Limit 1 win per Imps Village member. Only one code per person-- sorry! If you've won once, please don't enter any future contests.

How do I use codes?
Due to the extremely large number of codes I'll be giving out, I'll be sending you a PM with just your code, if you win. As much as I'd like to write a personalized congratulations note for every winner, 50 is a lot of people to write notes to

Once you get your code, go to http://game.wakfu.com/en/inscription-beta-test/ to enter it in and associate it with your Ankama Games account. In my experience, this doesn't work in Safari -- so mac users may want to try Firefox for this part.

After that's done, you can proceed to http://game.wakfu.com/en/download.html and click to download the game. You'll have to log in with your Ankama Games username and password!

Imps Village Out-Of-Dofus Event!

Alright, so I must admit up front, I'm doing this almost completely for selfish reasons ;-) As those of you who frequent that General Discussion forum know, I'm very seriously considering starting my own web business for allowing people to run dedicated game servers (No, not Dofus game servers -- this time I'm not joking!) for ridiculously cheap prices.

Before I go head-first into this, though, I need to know how the different systems I'll be offering will stand up to massive game traffic. And so, I'm hosting another Unreal Tournament 2004 event on

NEW DATE: SATURDAY, MAY 24, AT 3PM GMT

If you're bad with time zones, here's a quick breakdown:
US West Coast: 8am (sorry D:)
US Mountain Time: 9am
US Central Time (MissMarie): 10am
US East Coast: 11am
England: 4pm
..and everyone else will have to figure it out from there.

You'll only be able to participate if you have a copy of Unreal Tournament 2004. As nice as it would be if everyone could go out and buy it, that's just not reality here ;-). Those of you who have (or will have) downloaded versions of the game will still be able to connect. The server will be set up in such a way that it won't report you to Epic Games if your CD-Key isn't valid.

This is a test, it isn't all just fun and games. I will require everyone who's playing to be on IRC, because I will be testing two to three different servers during this test and you all will need to be there to see what to connect to next. Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to stop a game in the middle if I don't have to -- but just realize that there may be interruptions between games. I *need* to know what these boxes can handle.
